Eduardo,

I’m curious how things turned out. Let me know how it’s going 😊

Hey Aleksei,

Before deciding how to handle defects, you need to get clear on what you’re trying to improve. Is the goal to reduce defect rates? To apply WIP limits and stay within them? Or to build a better prioritization mechanism?

That clarity matters.

If improving defects is not the focus, then there’s no need to create cards. There’s little value in tracking something you don’t intend to act on.

But if reducing defects is the goal, then start tracking them. Create the cards and define how you’ll handle them.

Is this defect important right now? If not, move it to the backlog.
If it is, connect it to the parent item and place it at the top of your To Do list. It becomes the priority, and as it moves through the process, it goes first.

Set clear rules to bring visibility and keep improving the flow.

In that case, the card doesn’t really add any new information, except cluttering the board. - If it’s in New, then by the rule of “always work on what’s further to the right first,” no one will get to it. Unless it’s linked through a parent card to something on the right — but then what’s the point of placing it on the left? For what purpose? If the left side is already full of work, then such a card will either: --- have to skip ahead, meaning the limit will still be exceeded, and people will get used to the idea that “exceeded limits are normal”; --- or it will just sit there waiting until the tasks on the right are finished — but then a task on the right will be left waiting. In short, it feels like unnecessary bureaucracy and a mess in terms of process rules. That said, I can understand the idea of creating defect cards on a separate board just for tracking purposes — but all the actual work should still be done on the main board.]]> May I ask you about the first part — “and create a new defect card”?
Why do we need to create it?
To be honest, I don’t really understand where to create it so that it actually consumes the WIP limit. 🙂

I hadn’t thought about the possibility of working 4 days productively and effectively and, as a result, always having an extended weekend with my family.

I am very motivated to apply these studies to seek this for my family.

Thanks for sharing this with us!
